New rom-com web series, Secret Millionaires, debuts this November!

What would you do with $250,000,000? The answer to this fantastical question becomes a lot more complicated when Tim and Laura, a couple struggling to make it in the current economy, suddenly win the Ultra Jackpot.

Secret Millionaires, a romantic comedy web series, follows the fateful couple through a series of misadventures as they desperately try to hang on to some sense of normalcy in the everything-but-normal world of the super rich.

How do they avoid all the attention while getting to enjoy any of their winnings? Who can they trust? How do they give money to their family or friends without revealing anything? And how much should they give?

“The idea stemmed from what became a predictable routine every time I brought home a lottery ticket,” says series creator Dan Amos, who writes and stars with his wife,Elizabeth Pennington. “We would argue, because I’d have just been going on about saving money – how we shop at Whole Foods when we need to be shopping at Von’s –and she’d be like, ‘Aaaaand it’s okay for you to buy a lottery ticket??’

“Then we’d get to talking about what we’d do with all the winnings. We always concluded that we’d try and keep it secret. Give it all away in fact; not have to deal with such a responsibility… of course if it ever actually happened, I’m sure it would go a different way. That’s what this series is about.”

One episode features actor Blake Robbins (The Office, Flash Forward, Oz), as Dr.Cadillac, who only sees patients with exorbitant insurance policies.

“Blake was an amazing addition to the cast,” says Amos. “Liz met him on the set of The Office, and he was just such a generous and uplifting guy. We also knew that he co-wrote the book ‘Casting Q’s’ with casting director Bonnie Gillespie, who is a big proponent of actors self-producing their own work. We approached him with what was really this cameo part, and he ended up making such a meal of it. So many other actors in the series did the same thing. The strength of the show really rests on this normal couple’s interactions with all of the zany people who come out of the woodwork.”

Also appearing is a plethora of established and up-and-coming performers including Simone Alex (The Defenders, Mumford), Timothy Hornor (Days of Our Lives, iCarly),Collin Sutton (No Saints For Sinners), Barry Alexander, Kasey Arnold, Lauren Dobbins Webb, Marc Stone, Jackie Lamptey and Kara Hamilton.

The series is directed by Nicholas Sayaan (winner of the Shorts ‘N Spirits LA Audience Choice Award for the The Sofa), and edited by Peggy Davis (The Big Kahuna).

With each episode clocking in at about 4 minutes, Secret Millionaires provides a charming, humorous break from the rat-race. And you never know, after watching Tim and Laura’s plight, that humdrum job with the mid-level salary and 50-year mortgage suddenly might not seem so bad!

Secret Millionaires debuts all four of its initial episodes on November 17th, 2010.
